UTA - Management in Latin America

Navigating Global Business: Lessons from Latin America

This course will cover relevant aspects of management in an intercultural context, treating topics normally covered in any management class while including international complications.  Special attention will be paid to the impact of culture on planning, organizing, staffing, and communicating.  Students should acquire basic skills to help them deal with people from different cultural backgrounds (clients, customers, suppliers, subordinates, bosses) and will learn through a limited number of cases, and real-world examples.

Dates:  January 2-11, 2018
  • 10 travel days will fall between the fall and spring semesters.  
  • There are also four mandatory workshops on campus prior to departure, scheduled to take place between December 18-21, 2017.

Credit Hours:  3 credits total
  • MANA 4391 Studies in Management

Cost:   $1,949 + UTA Tuition
  • INCLUDES: Housing in hotels, some meals, local transportation, required site visits to businesses.
  • Does not include airfare (estimated $1400), required UT System Study Abroad Insurance ($38 for 2 weeks), UTA Study Abroad Application Fee ($75), food, and incidentals 
  • Financial aid can be applied, and students can apply for the International Education Fee Scholarship (IEFS)  through the Office of International Education.
