Location:  UNESCO named Quito's entire downtown a World Heritage site and described Quito as having “the best-preserved, least-altered historic center in Latin America.” Surrounding the city are volcanoes and impressive mountains, all easily accessible from downtown Quito for stunning views of the Pinchincha valley.

The University: Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is a modern university set in the beautiful northern suburbs of Quito.  Founded in 1988, USFQ is one of the most distinguished private universities in Ecuador and has the largest international exchange program in the region.  The University employs over half of the PhDs in all of Ecuador.

Language Requirement:  It is strongly recommended that students have at least 2 years of college-level Spanish prior to arrival.  

Courses Offered:  Most courses are taught in Spanish with approximately 10% of classes offered across the disciplines being taught in English.  Courses taught in English will have an "E" at the end of the course code as well as have the course title written in English.  Course Options | Online Schedule of Classes

Student Visas: In addition to a US passport, all students must obtain a valid  Student Visa.  Students will apply for this visa once they have been accepted into the program.  Information about Student Visas is included in the SFSQ Orientation Manual.

Fun Facts:  Ecuador has four diverse and rich regions: the Amazon rainforest, the Coast Region, the Andean highlands, and the Galapagos-archipelago.
