Brandenburg Technical University (BTU)

 

 

Location:  Cottbus is located about 70 miles south of Berlin and only 20 miles away from the Polish border. Cottbus, with a population over 100,000, was once located in East Germany prior to the German reunification in 1990.  Cottbus prides itself on being a "green" city, boasting a number of lovely parks and well-maintained gardens.

The University: Brandenburg Technical University (BTU) was founded in 1991 as the only technical university in the State of Brandenburg.  BTU has a student population of more than 4,500 students, over 1,000 of which are international students.

Courses Offered:  Courses are offered in English in the areas of study listed above.  Students with a high proficiency in German may also take courses taught in German.  Academic Programs & Courses

Student Visas:  US students must possess a US Passport to enter Germany.  US students are not required to obtain a student visa prior to entering Germany, but must obtain a resident permit after entering the country.  Student Visa Process Details

Fun Facts:  There are over 300 different kinds of bread in Germany. There are more football (soccer) fan clubs in Germany than anywhere else in the world. 70% of German highways have no speed limit. German shopping establishments charge for plastic bags.
