Eligibility & Requirements

Admission is competitive into all programs. UTA Study Abroad staff and faculty leaders select participants based on application materials, admission requirements and student interviews (when applicable). Requirements may vary by program and it's important to carefully evaluate each program requirements to ensure you meet the guidelines.
 

Undergraduate Requirements

  • Student must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with UTA in order to Study Abroad.
  • Student must be enrolled at UTA for the term prior to studying abroad and during the application process.
  • Many of the study abroad programs require a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA for admission. Some programs require a higher GPA.  Please consult with your Study Abroad Advisor if you do not meet the requirements for your program(s) of interest.
  • Judicial checks are made for each applicant and any issues are dealt with individually.
  • Freshmen students are eligible to study abroad after completing their first two semesters at UTA.  Exceptions may be made for participants in faculty-led study abroad programs, with the approval of the faculty program leader.
  • Transfer students must complete one semester at UTA before going abroad.
  • Students who have college hours through Dual Credit programs or AP Credits must still complete their first two semesters at UTA.
  • Student must maintain full time status while abroad according to undergraduate requirements.
  • Student must complete all application requirements by posted deadline.

 

 Graduate Requirements

  • Student must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with UTA in order to Study Abroad.
  • Student must be enrolled at UTA for the term prior to studying abroad and during the application process.
  • Student is required to have a graduate GPA of 3.0 for admission.
  • Judicial checks are made for each applicant and any issues are dealt with individually.
  • Graduate students must complete one semester at UTA before going abroad. 
  • Student must maintain full time status while abroad according to graduate requirements.
  • Student must complete all application requirements by posted deadline.
